Baseball - Boys Varsity

What a year for the 2008 Warrior Baseball team! Led by the gritty Seniors of Blake Fowler, Justin Bell, Sam Griswold, Hershel Bettis, and Zeke Guyear the Baseball team pulls off another run to the State TSSAA Spring Fling! First it was coming back through the losers bracket to capture a 3rd straight District Championship, then a classic battle with Polk County in the Region Semis which saw the Warriors and pitcher J.Bell pull out a hard fought win 4-3. Then on to the Region Championship that brought a familiar foe to Al Raffo Field in McMinn Central. With these 2 facing each other in the region the last 2 yrs and splitting the games this one was the tie breaker. The Warriors made quick work of the visitors winning 10-3 behind strong pitching from Lucas Lloyd. Now for the Big test.....Sectional final...winner goes to State...loser goes home. Marion v. Upperman-This won was a good one...Ace Bell on the mound for Marion..undefeated in 2 yrs of work, but he was greeted unkindly in the first by the lead off guy who homered to center. The score remained 1-0 till the 4th when Joe Muir drove the first pitch deep over the fence in Left center. The Warriors then picked up 3 more to go up 4-1 and with Bell on the mound it seemed like it was enough but a misplayed flyball with 2 outs in 7th cut the score to 4-2 and put the tieing run on second but Bell coaxed a fly ball to Fowler nto end the game and send the Warriors to Murfreesboro for the 2nd year in a row!!!!!!!!
